"In 2004 Over came to us by certain surprise. Scarlett just phoned us, mentioning that she did bring “a very special dog” from France and if we would be able to meet him the next morning. Rather excited we went to Rotterdam, taking our Border Collie Meggy with us just to ensure that the two could cope with one and other. Immediately there was a “click” between all 4 of us, thus taking Over home.
After a very short period of getting used to each other, we had the feeling that Over was very much satisfied in the new situation and he and Meggy presented them selves as a couple that simply had been destined for eachother. We do remember the first time we took Over to the beach. He jumped around, barked and tried his yell. He ran en played and at that occasion we met a very different Over. So it stayed. We loved and respected him so much. We learned from him, we named him our king, professor, wise old man, senior director and sometimes ‘jerk’.
In the first months Over stayed with us, we discovered some grains under his skin which we consequently removed. Some of them could not be removed and developed a huge infected lump in his chest. Over went to surgery which we unfortunately had to repeat one more time within two months time. This operations and his almost daily visit to the veterinary clinic, weakened him. It appeared that he suffered from a paniculitis and got medicine for this. More medicine followed in order to protect his stomach. Late 2006 the illness of Couchin appeared. The end seemed to be near. More medicine followed and Over in fact had a real good time but got older every day. Although he felt tired and seemed to be short of breath sometimes, Over was playful and enjoyed life. November 2006 we got a puppy Border Collie, Rheya. Over took his role as parental responsible and all three dogs came very good along with each other. May 5th we celebrated his 9th birthday and hoped for at least one more year. Unfortunately he did not make it. May 29th he has been hit by a heart attack and the day after we took him to the vet again. Being responsible for his well being and health, we decided to let him go. He accepted his farewell in our arms, and his friend Meggy at his side.
We will remember Over for the rest of our lives. He was fabulous, he was our King.
Since we didn’t know a lot about Over’s history, it never seemed to be important somehow, we found out through the internet about Over being father (3 times), about his success in various shows and about you and your other collies.
Please find some pictures of Over attached. We very much would appreciate publishing them on your website. In our opinion Over deserves a place on the web in remembrance of an unique and beloved dog. "
